the Word

my people,
check out the white box to the left. that is what's called the "Revised Common Lectionary." Revi Commo What?! Its a list of Scripture readings for each day of the year that goes in a 2 year cycle. Folks all over the world from all different kinds of church denominations use this 'lectionary' to help them read their Bible.
Here's how it works:
The first listing has all the scripture readings for the upcoming Sunday. So if you wanna get a head start on what the sermon might be about...
The second listing is for each day. Its set up so that you will read something from the Psalms (once in the AM and once in PM), from some other OT book, something from the NT, and something from the gospels. The idea is that if you follow these readings over a period of two years, you will have read most of the Bible. Neato, right?
Its also good to use because it unites us more as Christians across the globe. Think of how many other millions of people are reading the same scripture verses as you each day--brilliant, no?
Anywho, if you're one of those people who sits down to read your Bible and doesn't know where to open or what to read, try using this--or at least part of it. If you're going to just do part of it, read the Psalm and the gospel text. And if you start using this, tell me so I can know who's reading along with me.
Happy reading.
Word.
